Following on from our recent podcast series, we're thrilled to announce our latest venture, The New Unusual.
With support from the Ernst Von Siemens Music Foundation, we have been able to commission 11 of the composers who participated in our 'Conversations from quarantine' podcasts, to each create a new solo work for a member of Distractfold Ensemble to learn, perform and record from home.
Featuring an exciting range of internationally renowned composers from around the world, including the UK, Europe, the US, the Global South and the Middle East, The New Unusual seeks to bring together composers, musicians and audiences from around the globe at precisely the moment that COVID-19 keeps us furthest apart. We're excited to present a project that we envisage will result in both an astonishing collection of new works and a powerful musical socio-cultural document of the time that we are living in and the conditions that musicians and composers are working under.
